Spectacular Views

A visit to Coxos beach is well worth the 5-minute drive from Ericeira. You can also do a trek along the coast from Ericeira to this beach, the views along the way are spectacular. Bring a picnic basket regardless of how you get here.

Make sure you check the tide. If the high tide is particularly high the water covers the whole beach. At low tide the water withdraws, and you can enjoy this magical place.

Praia dos Coxos is suitable for swimming only when the waves are small, this is usually the case in the summertime. The beach is also quite protected from the wind thanks to the surrounding cliffs. During low tide the beach is a wonderful place for the children because of the small lagoons formed on the rocks where they can swim and play safely.

When you are ready to explore, there are different viewpoints around Coxos beach. And a trail leads to a bench just above the beach, perfect for picnic with a view.

In the summer time there is a small and very cute cafe open next to the beach. However the cafe, as well as the bathroom, is closed during the winter season.
