What is WOT Hostel Ericeira?
If you have worked hard the whole winter and are ready for some action, look no further then WOT Hostel Ericeira. This newly built hostel is a bit of a wet dream in the hostel genre. There is always something to do and plenty of people to do it together with. Practice your surf moves on the skateboard ramp, have a game at the pool-table, chill in one of the hammocks, or play beer-pong with fellow travelers. When you want to cool down from all that action there is a small pool.
On top of this there is also a roof that serves as a yoga deck, with a yoga class taking place every morning.
The location of WOT Hostel Ericeira
One of the downsides of Wot Hostel Ericeira is the location. The hostel is located on a hill above the village, so you are not in the middle of the action in terms of restaurants and bars. There is a bit of a trek to get back when you have been somewhere else. The closest beach is a 10-minute walk away, but the closest surf break is 25 minutes away. So having a car is preferred. Or be prepared to do a lot of walking. The hostel unfortunately doesn’t offer any kind of transportation.
This also affect where to rent boards if you don’t have your own board. Wot hostel Ericeira do have surf rental, but make sure you compare the prices with other board rental places since some travelers reported that the surf rental was too expensive.
However if you manage to overcome the steep climb, your efforts will be rewarded by the ocean view and fun atmosphere of the hostel. Or as one traveler put it; the hill is a killer 😉 but a good exercise after surfing for sure.
A Cool Place
Ericeira Wot hostel is run by a mix of volunteers and regular employees.
The many volunteers mean that there always is someone ready to help you with any query, or just sit down with, have a coffee and share stories. The atmosphere is super nice and positive. You’ll get to know lots of interesting people of different ages and nationalities.
The accommodation is practical, the dorms actually offer a lot of privacy. However, be aware that the pods are basically just tents. You have light, power sockets and internet, but that’s about it.
Breakfast is very basic, so some guests have complained about that. But it is included in the price, so don’t expect too much. And when you have to cook up lunch or dinner there is a big kitchen, perfect for cook-offs with new friends.
Potential Flaws of WOT Hostel Ericeira
As mentioned before, the location might not suite everyone. Be prepared to walk and take the occasional Uber or Bolt (luckily they are very affordable around Ericeira).
If you haven’t figured this out by the general description the place can be pretty noisy. It is supposed to be quiet after 10, but this rule is not heavily enforced. People come here, from all over the world, to have fun and to get to know each other. And that experience doesn’t stop at exactly 10 o’clock.

The price to quality ratio is good considering there is a pool and all of the facilities are brand new. You get a lot of fun for your hard-earned cash. Ericeira WOT hostel is the right choice for you if you are game on for a true hostel experience.
