What is Ericeira Chill Hill Hostel?
Ericeira Chill Hill Hostel has two branches, one of them with the addition of Peach garden to the name. Both of them are located on the same quiet residential street. This location means that the old part of Ericeira is a 10-minute walk away, so you are not in the middle of the bustle of the old town. The upside to this being that in Ericeira Chill Hill Hostel you get quiet nights since there are no bars or restaurants next to the hostel.
The reception where you do the check in is in one of the two buildings, the upper one. Both of the Chill Hills have similar features. There is a garden with different chill out areas. The outside comfy sofas are particularly popular for relaxing with a book and an afternoon snack after a long surf session. The common areas are a great place to meet other travelers. Ericeira Chill Hill Hostel also has a BBQ, perfect for those spontaneous summer-time BBQ parties.
Ericeira Chill Hills atmosphere is really nice, you meet people but at the same time it’s chill. Since Chill Hill is located above Ericeira, you can have breakfast while enjoying the ocean view and in the evening you can have a glass of port and watch the sunset. The included breakfast is nice and if you want to make something extra there is a kitchen available.
Potential Flaws of Ericeira Chill Hill
The decoration is done on a more of a “whatever is available” kind of basis. More DIY then boutique hostel. There are some old furniture that probably should be replaced. The overall cleanliness of the accommodation is also a bit of hit or miss.
When you look at the pictures on booking.com you see a pool. There is indeed a pool nearby, but you have to pay an additional fee to use it and some guests have reported that the pool is not always available.
If you plan to stay during the colder months be aware that there have been some complaints about the lack of heating. Since Chill Hill is located a bit above the old town of Ericeira’s, there is a bit of climb to get back to the hostel.
Who is Ericeira Chill Hill Hostel for?
Staying a bit outside the touristic parts of Ericeira offers quieter nights. While all the action, and the beaches, just are a short walk away. It’s easier to find parking close to Ericeira Chill Hill then inside of the old part of Ericeira, so Chill Hill is a god option if you travel by car. Chill Hill offers a typical hostel experience, albeit on the more chill side and the price is definitely fair. Go here is you want to cook some meals and chill between sightseeing and surfing.
