Fisherman's House Ericeira
Everything you need to know before making your reservation
What is Fisherman’s House Ericeira?
Fisherman’s House Ericeira is the real deal. No other hostel is more classic Ericeira than Fisherman’s house. Set on a charming small street in the old part of Ericeira, the beach Pescadores is only 1 minute away by foot. Perfect for when you realize the sunset is about to happen, no worries, just grab your beer and go. In this hostel there are no private rooms available, so all guests are dedicated to creating a true hostel vibe.
Fisherman’s house Ericeira is located just above the most lively and oldest bar in town, Adega Bar, make sure you stop by for a drink or to enjoy the weekly live music.
The hostel is run by Ana and her mom and they really are the heart and soul of the place, their friendliness creates a welcoming vibe. They make the place feel more like home than a hostel. They also know a lot about Ericeira and the surroundings, make sure you ask them about their favorite restaurants and beaches. The decor is just like the owners, colorful, unique and done with a lot of love. There is also a communal kitchen where someone usually is cooking.
Potential Flaws of the Hostel
Just to give you a heads up, the average age in this hostel is around 25. But everyone is welcome. The metal bunk beds are a bit shaky and squeaky, and not every bed has their own sockets and reading lamp.
The atmosphere on the street bellow is bustling and cheerful, especially during those warm summer nights, be prepared to hear it from your room. Definitely pack your earplugs, or better yet, just wander down the stairs and join the fun. The hostel is not the right place for someone who enjoys going to bed early. There is no place to store your suitcase and valuables. Parking can be difficult inside Ericeira so you might have to walk a bit if you have a rental car.
Who Is Fisherman’s house Ericeira for?
If you prefer a smaller family run place, that’s not too commercialized, Fisherman’s house Ericeira is for you. The guesthouse is recommended if you travel on your own. It’s easy to get to know people since the hostel is small and only offers dormitories. Basically everyone becomes friends and there is always something fun going on.
It’s easy to get to different beaches and to the stop for the beach buss, so you don’t need a car to stay here. Fisherman’s House Ericeira is also good for aspiring surfers since they organize surf lessons. And we also heard good things about the yoga classes they offer, so do try them as well.
We recommend to check availability on booking.com for the best price.
