A River Creating a Unique Beach Atmosphere

The Lizandro River

The beach in itself is beautiful. A small shallow river runs into the ocean and give Foz do Lizandro its name and a unique atmosphere. There is plenty of space and an abundance of sun-warm sand, you will definitely find a good spot for you beach towel. Don’t forget to build a sandcastle.

If you want an active holiday, we recommend trying out paddle boarding (SUP) in the river. A beautiful and relaxing nature experience.

Foz do Lizandro beach features bathrooms and showers (50 cents), and it has good handicap facilities with a ramp that goes directly to the sand.

In the beginning of the boardwalk there is a surf school, Na Onda. They also have board rental, so no excuse not to catch a wave or two. This is a great beach for learning how to surf. There is only sand, no stones or rocks and at low tide you can walk far out, the water only reaching to your knees. Perfect for practicing jump-ups.

Foz do Lizandro is also a good choice if you have kids. The Atlantic Ocean can be a bit cold and wild. Bring a ball and your floating water toys for a perfect beach day. In the summertime there are umbrellas and sun chairs for rent at the end of the boardwalk.
