What is Ericeira Surf House?
Ericeira Surf House is a cool place run by surf friendly people. The owners, 3 people from the Netherlands, get a lot of cred and appreciation from their guests on social media. They have surf retreats as well as normal surfing guests. You can rent board and wetsuits or choose one of their surf packages, all for reasonable prices.
The crowd at the Surf House is a bit older than in many other surf camps. But don’t worry, there is still a great social atmosphere. They do have an on-site bar that is very appreciated by the guests. On top of this, they organize special dinner nights three times a week (BBQ, pizza & Mexican). The price is 10 euro per person. The wood oven (make your own) pizza is an insider favorite.
The house itself is big and comfortable, there is a total of 7 rooms. If you want to cook your own meal, you can use the fully equipped kitchen. The guest house also has a big garden and a big swimming pool and plenty of space for everyone to relax.
The people behind Ericiera Surf House have now extended their offer by creating Ericiera Surf Apartments. This is a great alternative if you have a family, or just generally crave more privacy than a surf house offers.
Potential Flaws of Ericeira Surf House
The views from the guesthouse is towards the Portuguese countryside. In the distance you can see a blue slice of the Atlantic. So this place is not for you if you want to enjoy the ocean view Ericeira is famous for. The guesthouse is also not as close to the beach as many other accommodations around Ericeira.
The house is located a 10 minute walk from Ericeira town and Foz do Lizandro beach. As an alternative to walking or renting a car Ericeira Surf house rents out bikes (with board racks) so you can bike to the break.
The biggest downside to gueshouse is that you have to book for minimum one week and the check in and check out day is Saturday, so if you want to stay fewer days or want more flexibility with your arrival day this is not the place for you.
Who Is the Surf House for?
According to themselves they cater to a slightly older crew, describing themselves as a bed & breakfast for surfers who have outgrown surf camps and want more quality. One reviewer pointed out that the age range was between 24 and 35, so this is not a 24 h party place.
For anyone looking for a relaxing surf holiday, complete with swimming pool, Ericeira Surf House is an excellent alternative.
