What is Lapoint Ericeira?
Lapoint Ericeira is a surf camp in Ericeira. It’s part of the Lapoint chain that operates in several different countries, always choosing popular surf destinations to set up camp. Portugal and Ericeira being one of their destinations. They combine accommodation with surf lessons and a lot of other fun activities, such as communal dinners and day trips.
People join Lapoint to learn how to surf, but also for the social aspect. In Lapoint you become part of the whole Lapoint experience. Kind of like package tours. But instead of retirees and families, Lapoint is full of young people, mainly from the Nordic countries, all ready to party and have fun.
Quinta Lizandro
In Ericeira Lapoint’s main living facility is a Quinta (large house in the countryside) a few minutes walking distance from the Foz do Lizandro beach. Lapoint calls it Quinta Lizandro, but it’s actually an old military housing.
But not to worry, the interior design team outdid themselves. The Quinta looks like something out of Paradise Hotel, complete with a swimming pool, a skate park and a great ocean view. The facilities get rave reviews from everyone who has been staying at Lapoint. The whole area is newly renovated, stylish and with a lot of space. Despite the fact that the Quinta can accommodate 120 people, its often full!
The sunset from the Quinta is truly amazing, there is an outdoor gym and lots of places to chill post surf. The rooms are modern and well-equipped, hot showers at all times, soft linen, good sound isolation. In the dorm every bed has a power outlet, a shelf and a bedside lamp.
Staying at Lapoint Ericiera
Staying a week at Lapoint is a good idea if you want to make the most of your holiday. The Lapoint staff takes care of everything, they even have social hosts to bring everyone together.
Lapoint is also a good place to choose if you are traveling by yourself, there are plenty of people at the camp traveling on their own, so you can easily make new friends. In the reviews a lot of people pointed out the social aspect to Lapoint, especially for solo travelers.
If you like to give your sore muscles a good stretch in between surf, yoga lessons are available.
When it comes to food, breakfast at the onsite restaurant is included in the price. Every day the restaurant serves lunch and dinner, buffet style, for an additional fee. There are also a fully equipped kitchen for guests to use at the Lapoint surf camp, but most guests prefer to join in on the social dining experience that the restaurant offers. If you want other food alternatives, Ericeira is a 20-minute scenic walk from the camp.
Lapoint has a minimum stay of 7 days, with a set arrival and departure day every Sunday.
Potential Flaws of Lapoint Ericeira
Since there are so many people learning to surf at Lapint, the camp used to work with teachers from different surf schools around. And if you read reviews of Lapoint Ericeira, you may have noticed that the varying quality of these external teachers is the biggest complaint. However so did the team at Lapoint, and as a company always striving to offer the best quality, they have decided to only work with one surf school for extra teachers. From this year they only work with Tiago Pires surf school, one of the best surf schools around. A decision that should give lapoint better quality control and all their guests some awesome surf lessons.
The second biggest complaint of previous guests is the price. If you want a budget kind of surf holiday, Lapoint may not be for you.
Who is Lapoint Ericeira for?
Lapoint is the place to choose if you want to meet a lot of young surf enthusiastic people and be part of an experience that brings you all together. Staying at Lapoint you don’t have to deal with the hassle of organizing things for yourself. There are lots of fun activities to do at the camp and the swimming pool and the ocean view is exactly what you want from your holiday!
